This is a 5 month contract position, offering an excellent opportunity to work on essential water infrastructure projects, potential it could be longer. Role Overview As an Estimator, you will provide commercial and estimating support across a range of bids and ongoing workstreams. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate pricing, robust risk management and strong commercial governance. The position will involve close liaison with suppliers, subcontractors, internal teams and senior management.Key Responsibilities<ul> <li>Provide estimating support for bids and live projects to ensure accurate, competitive and robust pricing.</li><li>Work closely with the Senior Management Team to advise on commercial risks, opportunities and strategic considerations related to bids.</li><li>Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations and produce accurate cost data.</li><li>Review supplier and subcontractor terms to ensure alignment with client requirements, assessing any deviations where needed.</li><li>Prioritise workload effectively to meet business deadlines and support wider team outputs.</li><li>Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including operational teams and clients.</li><li>Identify areas for improvement and support the development of enhanced estimating processes and systems.</li></ul> Key Requirements<ul> <li>Experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator, ideally within the water sector or wider utilities and civils environment.</li><li>Water and wastewater experience, minimum 3 years.</li><li>Proficient user of Microsoft Excel, with strong numeracy and data handling skills.</li><li>Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.</li><li>Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to identify risks and support decision making.</li><li>Excellent communication skills and ability to engage confidently with stakeholders.</li><li>Good understanding of estimating methodologies, procurement processes and contract requirements.</li><li>Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.</li></ul> How to Apply If you are interested, please apply with an up to date CV. Freelance Quantity Surveyor High-End Residential Location: West Sussex Rate: £300 £350 per day An established and well-regarded main contractor specialising in luxury residential projects is seeking a Freelance Quantity Surveyor to join their team on an office-based contract. The business delivers bespoke new builds and large-scale refurbishments across the South East, working with high-net-worth clients, architects, and consultants to produce exceptional homes. The Role: You will work from the company s West Sussex office, managing the commercial aspects of ongoing residential schemes, typically ranging from £1m to £5m in value. This will include subcontract procurement, valuations, monthly reporting, and final accounts. You ll work closely with the Commercial Director and have regular input from site-based teams.
