Maths Teacher - SEMH School Haywards Heath Full-Time September start

Are you a passionate Maths Teacher looking to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people?

Engage Education is working in partnership with a fantastic independent SEMH school near Haywards Heath, seeking a dedicated and resilient Maths Teacher to join their supportive team on a full-time basis, starting in September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher who is committed to helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential, both academically and personally.

About the School

This mixed school supports pupils aged 9-18 with a range of additional needs, including:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Dyslexia
  • Cognitive and processing difficulties

The school provides a nurturing, therapeutic environment where relationships, consistency, and personalised learning are at the heart of everything they do.

The Role

As the successful Maths Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver engaging Maths lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Plan, assess and adapt lessons to meet the individual needs of pupils.
  • Inspire students to achieve positive outcomes and develop confidence in their learning.
  • Support students with SEMH needs, attachment difficulties, trauma and challenging behaviour using positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate

Applications are welcomed from experienced teachers as well as Early Career Teachers (ECTs).

You will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience teaching Maths at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • A strong understanding of the Secondary National Curriculum.
  • Excellent behaviour management skills.
  • A calm, patient and empathetic approach.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.

Previous experience working within an SEMH or SEND setting is desirable but not essential. Experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour is highly advantageous.
