The Role
As a Children's Support Worker, you'll provide day-to-day care and support to children and young people within a safe, nurturing and structured home environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building positive, trusting relationships with young people.
- Supporting daily routines, education, appointments and recreational activities.
- Promoting emotional wellbeing, confidence and independence.
- Acting as a positive role model and encouraging healthy choices.
- Supporting young people to develop practical life skills.
- Maintaining accurate daily records, reports and key work documentation.
- Following safeguarding procedures and promoting a safe environment at all times.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, social workers, education providers and other professionals.
- Supporting young people through challenging situations using a calm, trauma-informed approach.
About You
We're looking for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people.
You'll ideally have:
- Experience working with children and young people in residential care, supported accommodation, education or a similar setting.
- A caring, resilient and patient approach.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations positively.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it) is desirable.
- Full UK driving licence is desirable.
