We have an exciting opportunity for an Audiologist to join us as we continue to expand throughout the UK. About the Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Audiologist to join the team on a sessional basis. As an Audiologist you will undertake hearing assessment of adults of all ages, cover all routine aspects of audiometric testing as well as conducting hearing aid assessment, fitting, validation and ongoing support of adults and families. Responsibilities <ul><li>Undertake hearing assessment of adults of all ages. This includes history taking and discussion with patient and/or caregiver as required.</li><li>Undertake all routine aspects of audiometric testing, including audiometry (air and bone conduction), tympanometry and acoustic reflex testing.</li><li>Undertake hearing aid assessment, fitting, validation and ongoing support of adults and families, with both analogue and DSP instruments according to MSE/department protocols.</li><li>Take aural impressions on patients of all ages, according to British Society of Audiology recommended procedures.</li><li>Undertake hearing aid validation using Real Ear Measurement systems, RECD, and free field testing as appropriate, and act on information obtained from insertion gain testing.</li><li>Actively promote a patient-focused approach and apply such principles throughout the service.</li><li>Liaison with external agencies (e.g. Cochlear implant teams) as appropriate.</li><li>Modification of NHS hearing aids and ear moulds in all cases.</li><li>Attendance at regular update meetings and training courses as appropriate.</li><li>Involvement with the maintenance and calibration of technical equipment.</li><li>Maintain patient records appropriately.</li><li>Assist in the maintenance of appropriate stock levels.</li></ul> Who we are looking for <ul><li>BSc. Audiology or - BAAT (parts I&amp;II) plus Btec Medical Physics &amp; Physiological Measurement or - Dip HE in Audiology or - Equivalent qualification - Eligible for registration with RCCP</li><li>One year undergraduate placement in an Audiology Department as part of the Audiology Degree OR one year experience of working in NHS audiology</li><li>Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team</li><li>Ability to communicate complex clinical information to the hearing impaired, their families and carers</li><li>Ability to use computerised patient management system</li><li>Good time management skills, organisational skills and written communication</li><li>Ability to formulate appropriate clinical management strategies based on case history and relevant test results</li><li>Theoretical knowledge of digital hearing aid fitting</li></ul> About CHEC Since 2012, CHEC has been working with the NHS to increase patient choice and provide better access to exceptional, timely, locally-based ophthalmology and gastroenterology care - free at the point of care.
