Medivet Faygate 24-Hour Hospital is currently seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join the team on a weekend-only basis, bringing your clinical expertise to a thriving, forward-thinking practice with an outstanding reputation for excellence. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a well-rounded and capable individual to work 10-hour shifts on both Saturdays and Sundays, with the option to discuss additional hours if desired. Despite the peaceful location, the hospital itself is a hive of clinical activity, offering high-quality care supported by a dedicated and friendly team. Our multi-vet, multi-disciplinary hospital has long been recognised for delivering market-leading standards of care to both patients and clients.You'll be joining a large and collaborative clinical team, including three night vets, eight day vets, six RVNs, one SVN, two VCAs, and five CCAs. Our team is known for being supportive, experienced, and passionate about patient care, and we pride ourselves on working together to deliver the best possible outcomes.Our hospital is fully equipped with advanced diagnostic and surgical facilities including digital radiography, dental radiography, multiparameter anaesthetic monitors, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, in-house laboratory equipment, CT scanner, and two dedicated operating theatres. The practice also benefits from a separate cat waiting area, species-specific wards, and an isolation unit to support best-practice infection control. ResponsibilitiesClient care:<ul><li>Deliver exceptional care to clients, each and every day.</li><li>Deal with any client complaints and concerns raised in the clinic.</li><li>Ensure the client receives updates regarding patient care following any procedure.</li><li>For any out of hours (OOH) or enhanced care, ensure the client is updated regarding patient care and wellbeing.</li></ul>Patient care:<ul><li>Carry out any consultations and procedures.</li><li>Accountable for patient care and monitoring.</li><li>Responsible for admissions and discharges for procedures (depending on complexity)</li><li>Ensure patient records are accurate and up to date.</li><li>Complete a clinical handover and make arrangements for the transfer of any patient requiring OOH or enhanced care.</li><li>Responsible for prescribing medication and carrying out dispensing checks.</li><li>All patient care is carried out under the guidance of the vet/lead vet in line with clinical competence.</li></ul>Standards and Compliance:Accountable for compliance with all regulatory and practice standards and agreed ways of working.Ensure the appropriate regulatory, practice and operational veterinary and nursing standards are implemented in the practice.Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.Commercial performance:<ul><li>Prepare accurate estimates and costs for clients and ensure payment is made at the same time as the procedure.</li><li>Take action to minimise debt and support action plans to address any issues with clients.</li><li>Maximise capacity through the most effective utilisation of clinical skills.</li></ul>Communications:<ul><li>Hold engaging clinical meetings with veterinary and nursing teams as required.</li></ul>Clinical leadership:<ul><li>Support and carry out colleague clinical mentoring/ development as required.</li><li>Pro-actively support and share clinical best practice within and across clinics and the wider Medivet community.</li><li>To continue to deliver exceptional care to clients the Vet and Lead Vet are responsible for mentoring graduates within the clinic. The Nurse and Head Nurse are responsible for coaching the nursing team.</li></ul>Clinical administration:<ul><li>Accountable for ensuring lab tests are carried out correctly.</li><li>Escalate any issues to the Practice Manager as required.</li></ul>Skills, knowledge and experience<ul><li>Must be an RCVS registered vet surgeon.</li><li>Able to demonstrate clinical leadership skills.</li><li>Implementation of a progressive clinical culture.</li><li>Able to work as part of a team.</li><li>Experienced in delivering exceptional clinical care to clients and patients.</li><li>Supports nurse consults and understands how this contributes to the performance and efficient operation of the clinic.</li><li>Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of each and every colleague.</li></ul>Our clinics are run by small teams who need to work together effectively to deliver exceptional care to our clients, patients, and colleagues. This means that, from time to time, you may be required to carry out tasks outside your normal duties, where you have the skills, knowledge and experience required.
