Timber Assembly Operator
Newhaven, East Sussex £28,704 per annum

Join an established specialist manufacturer producing bespoke, precision-built furniture for demanding commercial environments. This hands-on workshop role suits an experienced furniture maker, cabinet maker or joiner who takes pride in accurate, high-quality assembly.

The Role

  • Assemble bespoke furniture and cabinetry to technical drawings and specifications.
  • Measure, cut, shape and assemble timber-based components to precise dimensions.
  • Glue, fit and clamp components and sub-assemblies into complete units.
  • Install and adjust hinges, drawer runners, catches, locks, handles and associated hardware.
  • Sand and prepare joints and surfaces ready for finishing.
  • Safely operate and maintain woodworking machinery, power tools and hand tools.
  • Inspect completed work against quality requirements and specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop and support occasional site work.


What you will bring

  • Proven experience as a furniture maker, cabinet maker, joiner or within a similar woodworking role.
  • Strong knowledge of woodworking machinery, hand tools, joinery techniques and timber-based materials.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and work accurately from measurements.
  • High attention to detail with practical problem-solving skills.
  • A reliable and punctual approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A full UK driving licence is preferred due to occasional site work.
