Your new role <ul><li>Portfolio Management: Independently manage a caseload of low-level current tenant arrears (under £1,000), ensuring timely and appropriate action is taken to prevent escalation.</li><li>Daily Casework: Monitor and action arrears accounts on a daily basis, including issuing correspondence (letters and emails), conducting outbound telephone contact, and maintaining accurate case notes.</li><li>Income Recovery Process: Progress cases through the formal income recovery pathway, including issuing reminder notices and formal letters (e.g., Letter 1, Letter 2), in line with policy and procedure.</li><li>Payment Handling: Process tenant payments securely via the council's online payment portal, ensuring compliance with financial controls.</li><li>Direct Debit Administration: Set up and amend direct debit arrangements in accordance with tenant agreements and internal protocols.</li><li>Team Collaboration: Work closely with two Income Recovery Officers, escalating complex or high-risk cases appropriately and contributing to team performance targets.</li></ul> What you'll need to succeed <ul><li>Availability: Immediate start preferred to support ongoing service delivery and minimise disruption to arrears recovery workflows.</li><li>Work Location: Able to work from the Littlehampton office 2-3 days per week, with flexibility for hybrid working arrangements as required.</li></ul>Desirable NOT essential <ul><li>System Proficiency: Demonstrable experience using Civica CX, particularly the arrears' management module, to monitor, update, and progress rent accounts.</li><li>Sector Knowledge: A sound understanding of local authority housing services and income recovery processes, including relevant legislation and best practice in arrears management.</li></ul> What you'll get in return Flexible working options available. Your new role You will be a detail-oriented and proactive individual to manage client accounts while ensuring full compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules. You will be responsible for the daily monitoring and advertising of client funds via the banking system, including CHAPS, BACS, and Faster Payments. You will be responsible for processing payments, receipts, transfers, manual cheques, and cash banking, as well as posting expenses such as fees and travel. The position also includes handling 'Infotrack' and Land Registry invoices, along with general administrative duties such as filing. Interim Financial Controller, office based Your new company Financial Controller for a charity whilst they go through a period of change, initially 100% office-based. Your new role You will be an experienced and strategic finance professional to be part of the senior leadership team, overseeing Finance and IT. You will oversee a team of direct reports, and be responsible for the full spectrum of financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, tax, and treasury, while ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, Charity Commission requirements, and financial reporting standards. Key responsibilities include liaising with external financial service providers, leading financial planning and analysis to support long-term objectives, and developing systems for project profitability and job costing. The role also involves reviewing and approving monthly payments, managing online banking processes, and ensuring VAT compliance. You will support external audits, prepare annual budgets and quarterly reforecasts, maintain rolling cash flow forecasts, and monitor key performance indicators. A commitment to driving efficiency through automation and process optimisation. What you'll need to succeed You will be an ACA, CIMA, CIPFA or ACCA qualified Accountant with experience of leading a finance team within either a charity or a SME business. You will have knowledge of VAT regulations, including partial exemption, and payroll tax compliance. You will also be involved in implementing improvements in financial systems and processes, so prior experience is a plus.
