This role takes an office first hybrid approach here at London Gatwick, with three days a week in the office, two days remote, managed around the needs of the business.

What is the role?

In this Employee Relations role, you will be key in ensuring the business is provided with efficient, effective and timely ER/HR support and guidance on all people related issues. Offering a first-class customer and employee experience every time working in busy operational focused environment with varied case management responsibilities.

What will you do?

  • Support, guide and coach line managers across a range of people related processes predominantly within the operation including conduct, (disciplinary), grievances, probation, absence, performance and policy interpretation and application, ensuring consistency of approach and compliance with legislation and policies, procedures and processes.
  • Support and guide Investigation and Hearing Managers in the timely management of employee relations processes, escalating to the ER Partner / HRBP as appropriate.
  • Maintain a tracker of cases providing regular updates to the HRBP's and ER Partner, ensuring high risk cases are escalated in a timely manner to the ER Partner.
  • Review current process and practices, recommending changes as required to support best practice.
  • Ownership of Employee Relations project work in addition to case load.

Do you have what we're looking for?

  • CIPD Qualification - Level 5
  • Demonstrable experience and understanding of employment legislation, policies and practices and proven experience of their application in business.
  • Previous experience in a employee relations role, ideally within an operational business.
  • Competent and capable of providing HR generalist administrative support and note taking at investigatory interviews, case management reviews, disciplinary and grievance hearings and Trade Union Forums.
  • Ability to coordinate the internal mediation programme including tracking cases, scheduling sessions, updating internal mediators and producing regular metrics
  • Ability to manage and prioritise a high varied workload
  • Experience of working with Trade Unions
